5-3) Ergonomics – Industrial

29 USC 654 (U.S. Code Title 29, Section 654) under the General Duty Clause statue states that employers must keep their workplace free from recognized serious hazards. This includes ergonomics hazards.

OSHA will conduct inspections for ergonomic hazards and issue citations under the General Duty Clause.

OSHA plans to focus ergonomic inspection resources on industries with relatively high rates of injuries that appear to be related to ergonomic hazards and where there are feasible methods available to reduce those hazards.
